Losing a pet is sad.

I put Gato, my siamese cat, down in 2014 (he was 15) and it still tugs at my heartstrings.

Now, I have my sidekick Cinco. He’s a 5 pound chihuahua and he’s the first dog I have ever owned. He loves to snuggle and I totally welcome it.

The bond I have with Cinco is far greater than I had with my cat. I’m not too sure why. But we totally have this human/canine connection.

Cinco is almost seven years old. And it devastates me just thinking about when he will have to depart.

Anyway, losing a pet is tough, it doesn’t matter if it’s a dog, cat, rabbit, or a turtle.

For that reason, I decided to make this card – to send some furbaby condolences when needed.

Details

I made this card using a white 5″x7″ folded piece of cardstock.

Then I brought out my acrylic block, black ink pad, stamps from the Art-C stamp collection (I cannot find a link for them online) and a large paw print (similar) by Momenta.

Using the small paw stamp, I stamped all around the cardstock.

Then, with my red brush pen and a white strip of cardstock (2″ x 6.75), I hand lettered “with sympathy” and put it aside for later.

For the next part I used my die cut machine and circle dies (similar) to cut out two graduated circles.

On the larger circle, I used a red pen from this set and added dots all the way around.

Then I used a larger sized paw print stamp and stamped it onto the smaller circle.

I put the circles aside and with my adhesive, taped a black piece of cardstock (2.5″ x 7″) onto the main card.

With my adhesive, I put some tape onto the “with sympathy” strip and placed that on top of the black cardstock.

Last, I taped down the largest circle first and then layered it with the smaller circle. I wanted the smaller circle to stand out/pop-up a bit, so I used some foam squares.
