Some people have a go-to shirt, a go-to place, a go-to song, or a go-to person. Believe it or not I have go-to stamps.
They are the stamps that I absolutely love, I cannot live without, and use frequently.
In the span of me creating journal layouts, I’ve used these go-to stamps multiple times. I like them that much.
It must have something to do with the fact that they are stationery related, and I sure do love stationery products!
Check out the layout I did for the week.
Supplies
- Dot Grid Notebook
- Ruler
- Stationery Stamps
- Acrylic Block
- Ink Pad
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens (373 and 565)
- Tombow TwinTone Markers (emerald green)
- White Gel Pen
- Flexible Tip Sign Pen
- Clipboard Stamp (Stampabilites)
Step One
I started this layout by stamping various stationery stamps at the top of the squares I drew in light pencil. I used an acrylic block to hold the stamp and a black ink pad.
As for the small clipboard stamp it’s old and from Hobby Lobby (check eBay).
Step Two
Then, I lettered the month at the top of the right page using my Tombow Brush Pens. For a fun effect I decided to blend two colors together, let me share how I did that. I grabbed my acrylic block (the one I used in Step One) and two Tombow Brush Pens (565 and 373). With the 565 I colored straight onto the acrylic block. Then, with the 373 (the lighter of the two colors) I picked up some of the darker color just by coloring on top of it a few times.
I lettered the word February. Error Alert – I totally forgot to add more of the dark blue to the 373 brush pen as I was lettering. Instead of the letters looking similar, it has somewhat of a gradient effect (not the look I was going for). Oh well, it happens. Then I added some details with my white gel pen and added the dates with a TwinTone Marker.
Step Three
I drew in the lines for the boxes with my ruler and the same TwinTone Marker from Step Two. These TwinTone Markers are the best! I love how there are two tips to these pens, a bullet tip and a fine tip. Just an FYI, the TwinTone Markers can blend just as easily as the brush pens.
Step Four
I lettered the first letter of each day of the week into each of the boxes with my Flexible Tip Pen (Saturday and Sunday share a box). Then, in the rectangular box I lettered the word ‘Notes’ for my doodles and other important reminders. And that is it!
