I’ve been in a creative slump lately. I cannot seem to focus – I’ve been distracted by just about everything else.
Distracted to the point that I will go on a run (yes, exercise), wash dishes, laundry, or do some form of cleaning. How is it that household chores take precedence over hanging out in my office and creating???
I’m in the process of pinpointing the reason for my creative depression so I can shake-off this recent funk.
So, I’ve boiled it down to this – I need to chill out with the perfectionist mind-set, it’s causing me to be overly critical of myself. Sometimes I have spouts with that inner voice and I need to tell her to shut-up!
Well, as I get back into the swing of things, I decided to create a geometric greeting card, in my favorite color of course, purple. Check it out!
Supplies
- Cardstock (white)
- Square Punch (similar)
- Purple Inks
- Blending Foam and Tool
- Clear Glue
- 3D Foam Tabs
- Die Cut Machine
- Circle Die Cuts (similar)
- Brush Pen
- Scissors
Step One
With my purple inks and blending foam and tool I created an ombré look on my cardstock (darkest to lightest). For more creative ways to use your ink pads, check out my tutorial on Skillshare and get 2 months for free.
Step Two
Then, I grabbed my square punch, punched out a bunch of purple squares and glued them onto a folded piece of cardstock.
I lined up the squares to hang slightly off of the card and then I cut off the excess hanging from the edge.
Step Three
Once the squares were glued, I used my die cut machine and cut out 4 graduated circle dies. I glued all of them together (minus the smallest circle).
Then I placed 4 foam dots onto the card and placed the circles on top, giving the circles an elevated/raised appearance.
With the smallest circle I lettered the words ‘thank you’ with my brush pen and placed it on top of the circle pile.
