Just the other day I was at Trader Joe’s. Seriously, that grocery store has so many unique items to choose from. The pre-packaged salads, the selection of cheeses, and even their recipes are fabulous.
Now, Trader Joe’s always has the best selection of flowers, at good prices too. I’ll buy their cactus and succulents in the summer, their sunflowers and other harvest-y flowers in the fall, poinsettias in the winter, and of course tulips in the spring. But check this out, they had pink peonies this time around! I was in shock.
The employee that was rearranging the flower section told me they get them every Spring! Every Spring?!? Where have I been for the last 10 years. I’ve totally been missing out. Granted I only go to Trader Joe’s about once a month. But still. Next Spring I will go to Trader Joe’s every week and get me some peonies.
So, this weeks layout is dedicated to my love for pink peonies. Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook Journal
- Peony Stamp
- Acrylic Block
- Thumb Tack Stamp
- Pink Ink
- Black Dual Brush Pen
- Black Drawing Pen
- Fudenosuke Brush Pen
- White Gel Pen
Step One
First, I blocked out several sections of this journal notebook layout with circle and square shaped paper. I do this because I don’t want any form of markings in those spaces.
Step Two
Second, I placed my peony stamp onto an acrylic block, inked it with some pink ink, and stamped the entire layout. Once both pages were covered in peonies, I removed the circle and square-shaped paper. For more tips, tricks, and techniques on stamping, visit my class on Skillshare and receive two months free.
Step Three
Next, I lettered the word May with a black Tombow Dual Brush Pen. To complete the word May, I added a few markings with my favorite white gel pen. I also wrote in the date with a black drawing pen.
Step Four
With a Fudenosuke Brush Pen I abbreviated and lettered the days of the week into each circle. The Fudenosuke Brush Pen is my go-to pen, I use it on so many of my projects. Last, I completed the layout with a thumb tack stamp (try saying that five times fast).
