When I was a kid, during the summer, I remember running around the backyard with my sisters. We’d set-up the yellow Slip n’ Slide, attach a hose to it, and run back and forth sliding across the lawn.
Then, to easily remove the grass from our legs, we would run from the Slip n’ Slide and jump into the pool. I’m not really sure why we didn’t just hose the grass off, it would’ve saved the trouble of using the pool net to fish out the grass.
Anyway, on those hot summer days, our mom would serve us sandwiches, lemonade (or Dr. Pepper), and then for dessert, we’d get popsicles. My parents made our summers so enjoyable.
After the meal (there was no waiting 30 minutes), we’d run back to the Slip n’ Slide followed by jumping into the pool. This process continued all day long throughout the entire summer.
So, for me, summer and popsicles just go together, kinda like peanut butter and jelly! I don’t ever remember having popsicles around unless it was during the summer. To this day, in my own home, the only time popsicles are in the freezer is in the summer.

- White Cardstock
- Pencil
- Leftover Scrap Paper
- Brush Pen
- Liquid Adhesive
- Craft Sticks
- Bakers Twine
- Hole Punch
- Scissors
Step One
First, with a pencil, I created a freehand drawing of a popsicle on a folded piece of cardstock. It’s important to make the drawing right at the folded edge (to create a card). Cut out the folded popsicle.
Step Two
Next, cut out strips of scrap paper of various widths. Glue them with some adhesive onto the popsicle shaped cardstock, allowing the strips to hang off of the popsicle. Once all of the strips are glued, trim the strips.
Step Three
Then I hand-lettered a greeting on the inside of the tag with a Fudensuke Brush Pen.
Step Four
Last, I punched a hole, added some bakers twine, and to complete the look, glued a craft stick to the back of the cardstock.
