Food or flowers? That is the question.
Anyone that knows me, knows I’m not a big fan of flowers.
Although beautiful, I don’t like the idea of how expensive they are and how quickly they wilt.
It took awhile before my husband (boyfriend at the time) understood the ‘no flower clause’. At the beginning, he’d often bring or send me flowers, not truly realizing I really didn’t want them.
After a good solid year… or two, I tried my hardest to make myself clearer than before. I explained how I’m a foodie, and prefer cookies, pastries, and other desserts over flowers. Now that I think about it, I’m more of a dessertie than a foodie!
Whether my husband makes the dessert or takes me out to get it, I’ll take food over flowers any day!
With that in mind, I love creating with flowers. Check out my latest dot grid journal layout.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Acrylic Block
- Floral Stamps (1, 2, 3)
- Inks (Candied Apple, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry)
- Brush Pen (055)
- Brush (1, 2)
- Marker
- Gold Paint
- Large Circle (Bowl)
Step One
I started this layout by drawing a large circle in my journal with a pencil. Then using various floral layer stamps (1, 2, 3) I stamped inside that circle. This is the acrylic block and inks I used Candied Apple, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry. For more of my stamping tips and tricks, visit my class on Skillshare and receive two months for free.
Step Two
With my ruler and marker, I divided the notebook into four sections (one for the month and the others for the days of the week).
Step Three
Then, with my yellow brush pen I lettered the month. I used yellow because it was a light color, and I knew the gold paint would cover it well (not show through it). Next, I painted a thin layer of gold paint over the yellow. The paint did not seep through to the other side of the page. I used this brush for the thin lines and this one for the thick.
Step Four
Last, with the same marker I used to draw in the lines (Step Two), I wrote in the first letter of each day of the week into the sections.
