Even though it’s not fall just yet, I’m on a total fall kick.
I’m slowly getting all my decor out and ready to celebrate our first fall season here in Texas.
I need to head over to Bath and Body and stock up on their deliciously fragrant pumpkin spice candles and soaps. Also, I need to go to Trader Joe’s for their pumpkins and gourds. I am all for their selection, even the warty pumpkins!
Aside from decorating and achieving a fall scented home, I’m committing to create fall themed journaling layouts for the entire month of September. See my September calendar here, it’s full of leaves.
For this weeks layout, I considered using washi tape to make a border, but decided against it. The colors just didn’t jive with what I wanted. So, I created my border instead. Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Circle Maker
- Acrylic Block
- Brush Pens (177, 947, 899, 879)
- Fall Themed Stamps
- Alphabet Stamps
- Number Stamps
- Block Holder
- Washi Tape
- Brown Marker
- Black Stamp Ink
- White Gel Pen
Step One
Before creating the border in my notebook, I decided to block a section of the notebook with washi tape. I blocked the area so the stamp ink wouldn’t go past the section I alloted for it. When using washi tape in my journal, I like to stick it onto my jeans first. It helps remove some of the adhesive so it doesn’t overly stick to the journal and ruin or rip the paper.
Step Two
Then I grabbed my acrylic block and fall themed stamps from The Sassy Club. Instead of using stamp ink, I decided to use my waterbased Tombow Brush Pens (177, 947, 899, 879). Here’s what I did. After placing the stamp on the block, I took my brush pen and colored in the stamp and quickly stamped my notebook. I say quickly because after coloring in the stamp, I sometimes take too long to stamp it to my paper and the ink dries. When this happens, I either breathe hot air onto the stamp or a spray a light mist of water over it. I continued the coloring process until the borders were full. Afterward, I placed a bunch of dots in the empty spaces just to make the border look full.
Step Three
Next, I took my circle maker and brown marker and created eight circles, seven for each day of the week and one for notes.
Step Four
Last, I lettered the month with a green brush pen (177), added some details with my white gel pen, and stamped each circle with my alphabet stamps and block. This is the black stamp ink I use.
