I’m happy to announce that my lettering guide is now available on Etsy!! It’s over 35 pages and includes the basic strokes needed for calligraphy, how to hold a brush pen, the types of pens and papers I like to use, and of course the alphabet – uppercase and lowercase.
There’s two versions available. The PDF version which can be printed from home and the binded version which I will mail via snail mail.
With the holidays just around the corner, right now is the perfect time to learn calligraphy. I love writing calligraphy on my holiday cards, gift tags, and DIY decor.
I even like using calligraphy in my dot grid journal layouts. Speaking of which, I went this entire month creating fall themed weekly layouts. I love how the various shades of browns, yellows and greens tie together each week. I’m considering doing a Halloween theme for the entire month of October (any thoughts?).
Anyway, here is my layout for this week. I think I might have used too much green for this layout, it looks a bit more Christmas-y than autumn-y.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Ruler
- Stencil
- Color Pencil
- Brush Marker (177 and 899)
- White Gel Pen
- Acrylic Block
- Days of the Week Stamps
- Stamp Ink (#3)
- Leaf Stamps
Step One
I started this layout by drawing 8 equal sized rectangles in my notebook with a brown brush pen (899) and ruler.
Step Two
Then I used my stencil and green colored pencil to date each rectangle.
Step Three
Next, I lettered the month with a green brush pen (177) and added some accents designs with a white gel pen.
Step Four
Last, I placed the days of the weeks stamps onto my acrylic block, inked it with some brown ink, and stamped it under it’s respective date. The border looked a bit bare so I stamped a bunch of leaves around it.
