Happy Birthday Cupcake Layout www.thediyday.com @thediyday

I have some celebrating to do so I will keep this blog short and sweet.

Three years ago today, I married my bestie…on my birthday.

Marrying him was the best decision of my life, he is the smartest, kindest, most thoughtful man ever. I am totally lucky!

Every year on my birthday he makes me my most favorite cake ever, Funfetti. Yes, I’m basic like that. It’s been my favorite cake since I was about 9 years old.

Anyway, in our home we celebrate birthdays for about a week with family and friends, so I decided to create a birthday layout in my journal to document all the fun events that are happening. Check it out.

Supplies

Step One

On each side of the layout I wanted a border of cupcakes, a decent amount but not overkill. The cupcake stamp set I’m using comes with several cakes in different designs and sizes, perfect for the look I was going for. I placed the stamp on my acrylic block, inked it up, and stamped cupcakes on both sides of the notebook. After, I colored in the cupcakes with colored pencils.

Step Two

Next, I stamped the cute asterisk stamp (also from the set) and added dots to fill in the empty spaces with a pink marker.

Step Three

Then, I divided the page into eight sections with a ruler and black drawing pen. For the most part I like my layouts to look symmetrical, so I divided the layout to have the same dimensions.

Step Four

Last, with a brush pen, I lettered each day of the week and added a section for notes. Learn my lettering style! Get my lettering guidebook over at Etsy.

I love the results of this birthday layout, so simple yet so full!
