Say hello to my newest addiction, gel printing!!! I am super duper excited about adding this technique to my arts and crafts arsenal.
My awesome friends over at Gelli Arts® were kind enough to send me a 9×12 Gelli® Printing Plate, this mini set (round, square, and triangle), their other mini set (oval, rectangle, and square set), and lets not forget the Mini Printing Tools.
Today was my first day to try out the gel printing technique. It’s really easy to do and the possibilities are endless. I love how the colors just layer right on top of each other and maintain their bright vibrant colors.
I have so many Gel Printing ideas in mind: greeting cards, gift wrap, gift tags, and even journal layouts! Believe me when I say, more Gelli Arts® Gel Printing is on its way.
Check out the designs I created.
Supplies
- Gelli® Arts Printing Plate
- Gelli Arts® Mini Printing Tools
- Chevron Stencil (similar)
- Acrylic Paint (1, 2, 3)
- Index Cards
- Brayer Roller
- Baby Wipes
Step One
I applied a small amount of acrylic paint onto the 9×12 Gelli® Printing Plate. Then I added a dark blue swirl of acrylic paint.
Step Two
Next, with light pressure, I rolled the brayer roller over the paints, mixing or smearing the colors together.
Step Three
While the paint is still wet, I placed an index card right on top and smoothed the paper with my fingers. Then I let the index card dry completely.
Step Four
After cleaning the Printing Plate with a baby wipe I squeezed some magenta acrylic paint right on top and used the brayer roller to spread it out.
Step Five
Then I placed a chevron stencil (similar) right on top of the paint and placed the blue flash card on the stencil.
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
