It’s not even Black Friday yet and I’ve already started buying Christmas gifts.
I’m not ashamed to say this, I’m a gift card gift giver. Some say that’s an easy way out or there’s not much thought into giving a gift card. I completely disagree. I put a ton of thought and effort into selecting the right gift card.
When I’m shopping for a gift card, I deeply consider what that particular person likes. As long as I know the person likes that particular store, how could I go wrong?
For example, my sister loves Amazon. She loves online shopping and the convenience of Amazon. It would be dumb of me to get her a gift card to an electronic store based upon how much she loves buying just about everything from Amazon (including electronics).
If it’s the thought that counts, a gift card should be just fine, right?
Luckily, when it comes to the little kids, I know what gifts to give based on the list they send to Santa. But after a certain age, it’s all about the gift cards.
With that in mind, I do wrap the gift cards to make the unwrapping process a bit more fun. Check out how I decorated a plain white gift bag using a Gelli® Printing Plate.
Supplies
- Gelli® Arts Printing Plate
- Gelli Arts® Mini Printing Tools
- Index Cards
- Brayer Roller
- Circle Stencil (similar)
- Thatched Stencil
- Black Drawing Pen
- Tree Punch
- Baby Wipes
- Acrylic Paint
- Gift Bag
- Adhesive
- Heat Gun (optional)
Step One
First, I applied gold metallic acrylic paint onto the Gelli® Arts Printing Plate and spread it around with a Brayer Roller.
Step Two
Next, I placed the circle stencil right on top of the paint and the gift bag on top of the stencil. With light to medium pressure, press the bag on the stencil to transfer the design. Allow the gift bag to dry entirely or speed up the process with a heat gun.
Step Three
After cleaning the plate with baby wipes, I applied green acrylic paint and spread it with the brayer roller. I used one of the Gelli Arts® Mini Printing Tools to add a design and then placed an Index Cards right on top to transfer the design.
I repeated the paint application process again and then I used bubble wrap to create a unique design.
Step Four
Once the gift bag was dry, I used a black drawing pen (01) and created loose outlines around the gold circles. This step really made the circles pop.
Step Five
Once the designs on the index cards dried, I used my tree punch.
Step Six
To make the 3D tree, fold the trees in half and apply some adhesive to the backs of each. Use the same adhesive to stick the trees onto the bag. To complete the gift bag I added some kraft paper packaging and a plaid ribbon.
