Happy holidays!!
The other day I went with my sister to the mall to look for a dress for an upcoming holiday work party.
When we shop for clothes together it’s not a quick jaunt to the mall. We dedicate the day to finding the perfect ensemble. We also help the other while in the dressing room, offering opinions and being a runner – aka getting a bigger or smaller size when applicable.
As we walked through the mall to various department stores, I loved looking at the way the stores decorated for Christmas.
When we went into Macy’s I noticed all the large glittery ornaments dangling from the ceiling. It was a nice touch that I just needed to replicate…in my dot grid journal.
This layout was super quick to do and took less than 20 minutes. Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Ruler
- Ornament Stamp Large (similar)
- Ornament Stamp Small (similar)
- Red Marker
- Black Ink Pad
- Colored Pencils
- Green Brush Pen
- White Gel Pen
- Black drawing pen
Step One
I started this layout by stamping the ornament stamps onto the notebook (this is the stamp ink I used). I wanted the ornaments to hang at different lengths so I just randomly selected where they’d go. I placed the smaller ornament stamp in the spots that wouldn’t fit the larger ornament. Just an FYI, I bought the large ornament stamp at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section a few years ago and the smaller ornament stamp is from the dollar section at Michael’s.
Step Two
With my ruler and red marker, I connected and hung each ornament to the “ceiling” or top of the page.
Step Three
Next, With my colored pencils, I colored the caps of the large ornaments gold. I also colored the smaller ornaments using a red colored pencil and two different shades of green.
Step 4
Last, I lettered the month with a green brush pen, added the dates with a black drawing pen, and added a bit of details to the month with a white gel pen. Oh how much I love the holidays.
