Ok, so I’ve dropped the ball on my blogging and social media postings. But in no time (I’d say a couple more weeks) I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled programming.
See, there’s been a big change that occurred in the last few weeks. I haven’t shared much about it til now, but my husband and I moved…again. I say again because last June (2018) we moved out of state, from Southern California to Texas.
It was the first time I’ve ever moved out of state. For my entire life I lived less than ten miles from my parents and my younger sister and her family.
This move took a huge emotional toll on me. I had this lump in my throat that wouldn’t go away for weeks. Just the shear thought of my family being so far away brought tears to my eyes. Luckily, my husband and I moved a few short miles from my older sister and her husband…in Texas.
But six months later, an opportunity knocked on our door and we answered it. It required us to move at the end of December.
Rather than continuing on and on about this move, I’ll break it up into a series of posts. More deets on the move coming next week.
For now here’s my journal layout for the week. It’s a fairly simple design where I mixed stamping, stencils, and lettering. And – it’s all in various shades of purple, my favorite color. I’ve noticed, using the same color in various shades really makes a layout standout. In all, this layout took me about 12 minutes to create. Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Ruler
- The Sassy Club Stitched Circles Stamp Set
- Acrylic Block
- Ranger Distress Ink (#15)
- Ink Application Tool
- Stencil
- Tombow Brush Pens (606 & 665)
Step One
After locating the top mid-left, mid-center, and mid-right portions on both pages of the notebook, I placed The Sassy Club Circle Stamp on an acrylic block, added some purple distress ink and stamped away. The circle stamps are exactly aligned but it’s close enough.
Step Two
Next, I added some stenciling to the bottom of the page. That portion was a last minute addition to the layout. The bottom looked too bare, so using the same color distress ink, an ink application tool, and a stencil, I just randomly applied the design. I say random because I didn’t measure to get exact symmetry on the layout.
Step Three
Then with Tombow Brush Pen 665 I lettered the month in the top right corner, and added a matching purple line with my favorite journaing sized ruler. I added the line just to break up the look of the circle stamps.
Step Four
Last, I lettered the first initial of each day of the week into each stamped circle with Tombow Brush Pen 606.
