Here’s a little update on life in Michigan…loving it!
Yes, it’s cold and it snows but I’ve lived in the complete opposite environment for my entire life. I’m transitioning and adapting and this change is a very unique experience.
Speaking of unique, I’ve learned a new walk! It’s not an all day everyday normal kind of walk, it’s “the ground is icy and I don’t want to slip and fall on my a$$ walk.” I’m not really sure how to describe the stride but it’s definitely a cautious one.
Anyway, at the beginning of every year I create a bunch of greeting cards just so I have plenty of cards on hand ready for all sorts of occasions.
Here is a thank you card I made with a macaron stamp and die cut. This macaron set is one of my favs, I’ve used it several times. Check it out.
Supplies
- Macaron Stamp (by Avery Elle)
- Macaron Die Cut
- Watercolor Paper
- Die Cut Machine
- Acrylic Block
- Ranger Letter It Embossing Powders (Graceful)
- Embossing Ink Medium
- Embossing Tutorial
- Distress Ink
- Watercolor Brush
- Tombow Mono Dots Adhesive
- Baker’s Twine
- Tombow Fudenosuke Twin Tip Brush Pen
- Envelope Punch Board
- White Gel Pen
- Tombow Brush Pen (N45)
Step One
After placing the Macaron Stamp onto an acrylic block, I applied Ranger Ink Medium (perfect for embossing) onto the stamp and stamped the design onto watercolor paper.
Step Two
Then I applied Ranger Letter It Embossing Powders onto the stamped image and used my heat gun to set or melt the powder. New to embossing or want to learn some new techniques? Visit my class over on Skillshare and receive two months for free.
Step Three
Next, run the embossed macarons and die through the die cut machine and then paint in the macaron, I used Distress Inks to paint mine. Because Distress Inks are waterbased, they make for great watercolors. All I had to do was rub the ink color onto an acrylic block, mix in some water with a brush, and then paint the macaron.
Step Four
I put the card together with Tombow Mono Dots Adhesive and lettered “merci” with a Tombow Fudenosuke Twin Tip Brush Pen. To finish the greeting card, I added a pink bow with baker’s twine.
Step Five
Last, I made an envelope with a punch board and added a few macaron stamps I lettered the envelope with a grey brush pen and added some details with a white gel pen. For details on how I did the gold trim on the envelope, see my blog post here.
