2 Journal Projects Using Disc Bound Die Cuts

Something I love about journaling is the freedom, the freedom to be creative.

Whatever colors, shapes, designs, patterns, and textures I want to include in my journal is entirely up to me. How cool is that?

Now let’s get back to the fun details of these journals. Part of the new release are the Disc Bound die-cuts. Disc bound die cuts? That’s a tongue twister.

What exactly is disc bound? It’s a type of binding that uses small plastic discs to hold a specific type of shaped paper. The shape of the paper is created by a “disc bound die-cut.” Any paper that is attached to the discs can be removed and attached over and over again. Let’s take a look at the discs and the die-cuts.

These are the discs that hold the paper. They come in a variety of colors and the discs can be mixed and matched.

Non-Uniformed Journal – Step One

For this journal I wanted a variety of different sized papers so I used the A2 and A7 dies from the Disc Bound Bundle set in my die-cut machine.

Next, I grabbed the cream colored binding discs and randomly attached each paper to various parts of the discs.

Now that the journal is complete, I can use it to write down reminders, notes, attach keepsakes, and mini albums.

Uniformed Journal – Step One

For this journal I wanted something that would fit in my purse and not take up a bunch of room. It had to be sturdy so it could tolerate the shifting and clanking my purse goes through. I started collecting paint chips awhile back when I was trying to figure out what color(s) I wanted to paint the legs of my desk. At some point I knew I’d use the paint chips in a craft project and this journal was just perfect.

Rather than use different sized dies like I did for the first journal, I decided to keep this one uniformed. I love how each page is a different color and it measures 2.5″x4″.
