Journaling, creating memories, and crafting are my favorite pasttimes. Add in the most wonderful time of the year, a bucket list, and holiday themed craft supplies, and I’m like a kid at Christmas. Documenting the events leading up to Christmas is a beautiful way to preserve a time when the hustle and bustle of the month flashes in the blink of an eye.

2021 was the first year I started my December Daily and I enjoyed the entire process. I was really engaged with the season, taking pictures, and putting it to memory- literally. Last year, I was a bit late to the game (missed out the first week) and told myself it would be best to start this project early the following year.

So here I am, a month ahead of schedule. I still have leftover supplies from last year so I won’t need to throw down a bunch of $ for patterned papers, stickers, die-cuts, embellishments, and the like. My printer will likely need additional ink cartridges since I plan to print pictures and hand drawn doodles, but I believe that’ll be my most costly purchase for my December journal.

There are no rules to this project. Document all of it or some it and it does not need to have daily entries as the name, December Daily may imply. Last year, when I started my first holiday themed journal, my husband and I were living and celebrating the holidays in small town Michigan. After living my entire life in sunny Southern California, I embraced the newness Michigan had to offer. I’d never experienced waking to falling snow (or snow in general), I had to dress in layers and purchase a jacket for negative degree weather, and I’d never seen or been on a plane that had to get de-iced before takeoff. These three events were important enough for me to take pictures and journal about, but that may not be the case for others. In my journal I like to include a picture and a description of the event, location, and a memorable experience that made it ours.

Some other bucket list ideas to include:

  • putting up lights
  • trimming the tree
  • build a snowman
  • send Christmas cards
  • start an advent calendar
  • go ice skating
  • make ornaments
  • put together a holiday puzzle
  • make a gingerbread house
  • visit a tree farm
  • make peppermint mocha
  • buying new ornamnets
  • wrapping gifts
  • watch holiday movies
  • drink eggnog
  • new holiday pajamas
  • look at Christmas lights/decor
  • sing Christmas songs
  • bake holiday cookies
  • write letters to Santa
  • go sledding
  • read Christmas books

This year will be another holiday season full of new adventures. We are no longer living in Michigan and are now in Indiana, so hopefully this state will not disappoint with holiday hooplah!

In the last few days I’ve been gathering all of my holiday December Daily supplies and working on page layouts ahead of time so I don’t fall behind. Here’s what I’ll use in the weeks to come.

Most of these items are available on Scrapbook.com. They deliver internationally too (to these countries), so order early.
