Greeting Card - What's Up Cactus? www.thediyday.com @thediyday

These past few days I’ve gone a bit crazy for cactus and succulents. See my other cactus and succulent post from the other day here.

Anyway, after turning my watercolor design into an envelope, I decided to make an accompanying card using the same exact stamp set.

I overloaded myself with enough cactus and succulents to get my fix for the rest of the month! Check it out.

Step One

First, this card measures 4×6. I started out by placing the planter stamp onto an acrylic block, inking it with black ink, and stamping it onto kraft paper.

Step Two

Next, I grabbed watercolor paper and several green water based markers. I colored in the cactus and succulent stamps with the markers, and stamped them onto the paper. Then, I turned the stamped images into watercolor images just by wetting my brush and applying it to the stamped area.

Step Three

Next, I added a few cactus-y details with this white paint and this black pen. Once dried, cut out the images.

Step Four

With a brush pen I lettered my sentiment and added a couple black brads. Then I started gluing the card together. With my razor blade, I cut small slits in the planters. Then, after placing some glue onto the cactus/succulent, I placed a small portion of the plant through the slit to give it a planted look.
