Since the beginning of 2018, I’ve been waiting to use these beautiful butterfly stamps again. I didn’t want to use them in the winter only because butterflies are most abundant in the Spring and Summer. Well, now that it’s Spring, I’m good to go.
As a kid, butterflies grossed me out. Before I learned about their life cycle, I totally thought a butterfly broke open from an egg. Boy was I wrong!
I was confused to learn that butterflies were once caterpillars; or moths like those green caterpillars in the tomato garden (nasty). Anyway, the egg stage I could deal with, it was the caterpillar stage I couldn’t. I just can’t handle their appearance and the way they move (ugh).
So, nearly every year at the fair, there’s an exhibit where people can hold butterflies. I’ve done this one time and one time only – it was too much for me. I had issues holding what was once a nasty looking little caterpillar.
With that said, this is the closest I will get to butterflies, a weekly layout in my notebook. Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Ruler
- Butterfly Stamps (similar)
- Butterfly Stamps (similar)
- Ink Pad
- Acrylic Block
- Pink Marker
- Pink Brush Pen
- Number Stamps
- Butterfly Die Cuts
Step One
For this notebook layout I decided to blast the middle section with a bunch of butterfly stamps from a mix of different sets. I placed a stamp onto my acrylic block, added some ink and just randomly stamped butterflies within the section. To get the overlapped look (an incomplete butterfly stamp) I just placed a piece of paper over the area I didn’t want the butterfly to appear. Step Two
Then I divided the empty space into four equal sections with my pink marker and ruler. Each section is for each day of the week.
Step Three
Because this week is a combo week (April and May) I lettered the months with my pink brush pen and included the dates.
Step Four
Last, I used these number stamps by The Sassy Club for the dates.
