Because I love every floral stamp made by The Ton Stamps, I’ve decided to make a greeting card using the Today’s Cosmos Stamp Set. I have so many ideas whirling through my head with creative ways to use this new set. I guarantee there will be future posts with these beauties.
But first, let me share the card I made. I incorporated a couple of my favorite techniques – embossing and watercolor. Check it out.
Supplies
- Today’s Cosmos Stamp Set
- Freestyle Stripes Cling Background Stamp
- Couture Color Pewter Mini Inks (black)
- Acrylic Stamp Block
- Embossing Supplies (see this blog)
- Heavy White Cardstock (flat and folded)
- Strathmore Watercolor Paper
- Brusho Watercolor Powder (Alizarin Crimson)
- Watercolor Brush
- Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue
- Tombow 3D Foam Adhesive
- Black Ribbon
Step One
First, I placed one of the floral stamps onto an acrylic block. Then I applied embossing ink onto the stamp, stamped it onto watercolor paper, and embossed the image. For more on embossing, visit my blog post here.
Step Two
Next, I placed a small amount of water onto the embossed image and sprinkled Brusho Watercolor Powder (color is Alizarin Crimson). With my brush, I painted both flowers. Once dried, I used scissors to cut them out.
Step Three
On a white piece of heavy cardstock I used The Ton Stamps Freestyle Stripes Cling Background Stamp with their Couture Mini Ink. I cut the image to the width of the folded cardstock 1.5” x 4.5”.
Step Four
Now it’s time to assemble the card. After applying Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue to the back of the Freestyle Stripes image, I placed that to the bottom of the heavy white folded cardstock 4.5″x5.5″.
Then I added ribbon with the same glue.
Next, I glued and placed one of the flowers slightly off of the card. Since I make my own envelopes, size isn’t an issue in terms of mailing (this is the envelope punch board I use).
I wanted the next flower to have a 3D appearance so I added Tombow 3D Foam Adhesive to the back of the flower to give it a raised look.
Step Five
Last, I stamped a message on the front of the card using one of the quotes from the Today’s Cosmos stamp set. This card turned out perfect!
