The One Stamp Set Journal Layout www.thediyday.com @thediyday
I’ve been internet-less, tv-less, and music streaming-less for over 10 days. It was the hardest ten days of my life (dramatic much?!?).

Let’s just say I’ve been using my cell data like crazy. I never knew how quickly 1GB goes until this little 10 day life altering event occurred. Seriously though. I thought 1GB of data would’ve lasted us at least a week…it lasted about 1 day.

At the end of each day I would receive a really annoying text that said I was 5% away from exceeding my data usage. Not too long ago I had unlimited data, but that somehow mysteriously disappeared when I needed it most. I firmly believe the cell phone people change my plan whenever they feel like it.

Aside from that, I never realized how much I rely on my smart phone and all the wonderful apps that come with it. I use it for music, directions, shopping, games, weather, I can go on and on. Maybe I need to add less smart phone use to my list of resolutions????

Anyway, now that I’m back up and running again, let me share my journal layout from last week.

I decided to create a journal layout using only one stamp set. Stamps get $$$, so I’m trying to minimize costs for my journal layouts. This wintery stamp set is one of my favorites for this season. I’ve used it several times with all sorts of crafts. See it in use here, here, and here just to name a few.

Stamps are extremely versatile and can be used for all sorts of crafts. For all my tips, tricks, and techniques with stamping, sign up for my class over at Skillshare. Otherwise, check out my journal layout for the week.

Supplies

Step One

To start this layout I placed washi tape on equal sides of the notebook. The tape serves as a reminder as to not stamp beyond the outer portions of the tape as well as it allows for a partial full bleed stamping effect. Just an FYI, if the washi tape is too sticky, place the tape on carpet or on a pair of jeans to remove some of the sticky so it doesn’t rip the journal paper when it’s removed.

Step Two

Once the washi tape is secure, I placed the snowflake stamps onto an acrylic block. Then, instead of using traditional ink pads, I colored the stamp in with various shades of blue Tombow Brush Pens. Tombow Brush Pens are waterbased and work really well as “stamp ink”.

Step Three

I had intentions of keeping this entire layout shades of blue. But after seeing how well the blues looked next to the pink washi tape, I decided to use pink instead. With Brush Pen (#755) I lettered the month in the bottom box, leaving just enough room to write in any notes that may develop over the week.

Step Four

I decided to separate each day of the week by adding dots instead of a traditional bold line that I usually do. I used a ruler to keep the dots in line and a pink Tombow Twintone Marker that coincidentally matches the pen I used to write the month. Last, with the same marker (fine tip side) I wrote in the days of the week.
