A Random 10 Minute Valentine Journal Layout www.thediyday.com @thediyday

Valentines is only a few days away. I’ve been loving all the decor and shades of reds and pinks I’ve been seeing all over the place. It’s been inspiring. For the past couple of weeks, most of my crafts are totally themed for the holiday.

But, my hubs and I aren’t big on celebrating Valentines the way tv commercials suggest we celebrate. We don’t do the fancy dinners, the house isn’t showered with balloons, flowers, or chocolates, and not “every kiss begins with Kay”.

We have our own tradition that is not commercialized or overly expensive. We like to cook dinner and bake dessert. Together. Then, over the weekend we will likely go on a road trip for the day. Since we just moved to Michigan, there is so much to explore (see some pics from our road trip to Frankenmuth here).

In keeping with my New Year’s resolution, here is my quick and simple 10 minute layout. The layout is extremely easy and it’s a perfect way to create when time doesn’t allow for much. I plan to do a 10 minute layout with minimal supplies at least once a month, here is the one I did for January. Check it out.

Supplies

Step One

I started this layout by stamping 7 Lip Smooches (similar) (mine is from Hobby Lobby) in random places throughout the notebook spread (3 up top and 4 on the bottom). Be sure to give enough space between the stamped images to eventually create 7 boxes around the kisses (one for each day of the week). I considered doing red and pink smooches but decided to keep it as simple as possible and only used Ranger’s Candied Apple Distress Ink.

Step Two

Then, with a ruler and Tombow Black Drawing Pen I created 7 boxes, each being different lengths and widths. Because the lip smooch stamps were placed randomly, the design of this layout gives a scattered yet clean/organized appearance.

Step Three

Last, I added the days of the week in each box using the same black pen from step two. I should’ve called this layout the seven minute layout because it was the quick to create! Happy Valentine!
