3 Projects Using Waffle Flower’s Color Combo Bundle

Creating swatches and different color combos is one of my favorite ways to organize. This month, Waffle Flower released all sorts of stamps and die-cuts to make the swatching process easy and fun. In this blog hop, I’m sharing three different ways I’m using Waffle Flower’s Color Combo Bundle, really though, the possibilities are endless.

Project #1

For the first project I decided to swatch my Ranger Distress Inks, 3 times per color – one is straight from the ink pad, another is sprayed with water, and the other is sprayed with rubbing alcohol. Because I’m using liquids for part of this project, I’m using watercolor paper and a Ranger Archival Ink Pad. The archival ink is permanent and waterproof so it won’t smear even when water touches it.

Step One

To start, I stamped the plain square stamp from the Color Combos Stamp Set onto watercolor paper, several times.

Step Two

Next, with the blending tool and various Distress Inks, I added the same color to three different squares.

Step Three

Then I cut the the rectangles into 3 rows and placed the first row to the side. With the second and third row of strips I misted water to the top of one and rubbing alcohol to the other.

Step Four

While the strips were drying, I ran white cardstock and the Color Combos Tag Die through the die-cut machine along with the decorative scrapbook paper and Combo Swatch Tag Die (the “cap” of the tag).

Step Five

Once the strips dried, I used a die-cut machine and the Color Combos Die (square) to create individual squares.

Step Six

Last, I added adhesive to the tag “cap” and the three individual squares and placed them on the white cardstock in their respective spots (one square with just Distress Ink, one with rubbing alcohol and one with water) and added them to a binder ring.

Project #2

For the next project I decided to swatch my Brush Pens. With 108 different colors it’s hard to keep track of what each one looks like; this handy swatch guide really helps find just the right color.

Step One

I ran white cardstock and the Combo Swatch Tag Die along with black cardstock and the tag cap through the machine.

Step Two

Then I placed the Bullet List Stamp and the 4-square Color Combo Stamp onto an acrylic block and stamped that onto the tag.

Step Three

Because each brush pen has a number assigned to it, I wrote in the color numbers onto the Bullet List portion of the stamped image.

Step Four

Then I colored each square with one color (in numerical order).

Step Five

Last, I glued a black cap onto each tag.

Project #3

For my last project I decided to use something other than pens, inks, or paper. This time around I’m using yarn. I love to crochet and this method of swatching will make it easier for me to select color combinations without needing to grab all my skeins of yarn.

Step One

I ran white cardstock and the Combo Swatch Tag Die through the die-cut machine. Then I placed the small rectangle die from the Color Combos Die to the top and bottom of the tag and ran that through the die-cut machine.

Step Two

To help identify each color of yarn, I wrote the color on the top of each tag.

Step Three

To keep the yarn from unraveling, I applied hot glue to the back of the white tag.

Step Four

Then I wrapped yarn between the two rectangle openings of the tag and secured it with hot glue to the back.

Step Five

To help reinforce the tag, I added a circular die-cut using black cardstock and the small circle die from the Color Combos Tag Die set.
