Kitchen Mama Can Opener is celebrating their second annual can crafting contest and I am so fortunate to collaborate with them. This crafting contest is open to all and the winner will win an iPhone 13 Pro Max! To enter, all you have to do is upcycle an empty can, take a few pictures, share the details on their website, and invite your friends to vote for your creation.
I am a big fan of the Kitchen Mama Auto Can Opener V2 for several reasons. Their can openers cut along side the lid leaving no sharp edges (this is absolutely true, the edges are smooth)! It also has an ergonomic design making it grip friendly, it’s hands-free (only takes two taps of the button to open the can), has a one year warranty, and comes in a variety of colors. I forgot to mention, it opens soda cans too.
Aside from all the benefits of the Kitchen Mama Can Opener, I also like Kitchen Mama because they promote recycling and upcycling. With that in mind, I’ve decided to upcycle and craft my very own can to give as a hostess gift this holiday season. Check it out!
Supplies Used
- Kitchen Mama Auto Can Opener V2 (red)
- 20 oz can
- Ellwoodii Plant
- White Acrylic Paint
- Candy Canes (35)
- Hot Glue
- Garland
- Plastic Christmas Ornaments
- Ribbon
Step One
Starting with an empty, clean and dry can, paint the outside of it white. Allow each coat to dry before adding the next.
Step Two
Add strips of hot glue onto the can and place a candy cane right on top. Continue this process around the entire can.
Step Three
Wrap ribbon around the candy cane decorated can and secure it with hot glue.
Step Four
Gently place the plant into the can.
Step Five
Because the dirt base of the plant is unsightly, add garland. If the plant is fake, secure the garland with hot glue, if the plant is living (like mine) place it right on top.
Step Six
Make picks with the Christmas ornaments. Simply remove the cap from the ornament, add hot glue, and secure a toothpick to the inside.
Step Seven
Decorate the plant with the ornament picks.
