Christmas in February? Why not?
When my husband informed me of a town in Michigan that celebrates Christmas all year-long, I really wanted to jump in the truck and go that exact minute. I was especially excited since we didn’t have the chance to decorate or celebrate our first Christmas in Texas this last December because we were too busy packing for our move to Michigan (yes, we did two out-of-state moves in less than six months, read more about that here). So visiting this town of Frankenmuth was what I needed.
It was amazing. We walked around the entire town, visiting the shops, and admiring all of the holiday decor. Christmas lights were everywhere! Garland was wrapped around the town, ice sculptures were abundant, and there were also some amazing snow sculptures in the shapes of owls, cell phones from the 80s era, a cooked turkey, and dragons – just to name a few. I’d compare it to a Norman Rockwell Christmas village.
We finished the day eating rocky road fudge, taffy, and red velvet coffee, and that’s only some of the treats the town has to offer. I’m looking forward to more visits to Frankenmuth during the Spring, Summer, and Oktoberfest in the Fall.
On our drive back home, I was counting down the days til next Christmas. Since it’s only February, there’s still plenty of time until then. With that said, I better get back to the mindset of this upcoming celebration, Valentine’s Day. Here is my layout for the week. Full of hearts and love! Check it out.
Supplies
- Notebook
- Washi Tape
- Acrylic Block
- Stitched Heart Stamps
- Distress Inks (#1 and #15)
- Circle Stencil
- Tombow TwinTone Markers (Brights)
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens
- White Gel Pen
Step One
Before starting the heart border, I placed washi tape about 0.75″ from the top and bottom edges of the notebook. I used the washi as a guideline to keep the design within the allotted area.
Step Two
Then I attached these heart stamps from The Sassy Club, onto an acrylic block, placed pink and red ink on them, and stamped them within the washi tape area. I filled the remaining space by adding dots with Tombow TwinTone Markers.
Step Three
Next, I used a pink TwinTone Marker and a circle diecut as a stencil (anything circular will do) to create 8 circular sections.
Step Four
I added the days of the week with a red Tombow TwinTone Marker and lettered the month with Tombow Dual Brush Pen 703. The month looked a bit plain so I added some designs with Tombow Brush Pen 835, a bright Tombow TwinTone Marker, and a white gel pen.
