The Lollipop song always reminds me of when those kids were singing it in that ’80s movie Stand By Me. A couple other memorable parts of that movie are the pie eating contest and the leeches – a total must see!
Anyway, I recently realized I was making a bunch of birthday greeting cards. So many people I know are summer babies! Well, I neglected many of the other cards I enjoy making too. So, I decided to make a hello card for a friend I hadn’t seen in awhile.
We were BFF as kids, but life occurred. Moving out of state, college, employment, and family so we don’t get to hang out or chat as often as we like.
Well, she’ll be hearing from me soon with this lollipop card.
Also, check out my envelope tutorial here.
Just an FYI, I recreated this card from a picture I saw online. I’m not sure who the originator is, but I’m happy to provide credit to whoever is.

Here’s how I made this –
This is a folded card. The dimensions are 4.5 in x 6 in.
The second layer of the card (the blue cardstock) is 4.25 in x 5.75 in.
First, I collected a bunch of leftover scrapbook paper.
Then with my 1.5 inch circle punch (similar), I punched 14 pieces of leftover scrapbook paper.
For the next part, I grabbed my sewing needle and some clear thread.
And I threaded the circles together (can’t even see the clear thread). These can probably be glued together but the thread and glue method turned out better for me.
Be sure to tie the thread into a loose knot.
Then I fanned/layered the circles.
Followed by gluing them into place with clear glue.
I put the circles to the side to dry and started measuring and cutting the cardstock. The dimensions are 4.5 in x 6 in.
The blue cardstock was already of perfect size 4.25 in x 5.75 in, so I just needed to glue it onto the first layer.
Then I used a q-tip for the stick of the lollipop. But first, I needed to pull off the cotton from each side.
I found some pink and white string in my craft drawer, and decided to use it on this card.
And I decided to tie a bow (a shoelace bow) around the stick of the lollipop.
With hot glue, I glued the lollipop stick and the circles onto the card.
For some final touches I wanted to stamp a tiny little greeting, so I brought out some stamps, my ink pad, an acrylic block and my calligraphy pen. I’m using this banner stamp from The Sassy Club.
Then, I cut out the stamped image, and glued it onto the card.
Close Up –
Some of the supplies I use are out dated. I’ve included tools that are similar.
